I have the same issue with a 100W and a 230W charger.
It would be great to have a way to reduce the performance of the Blade 16/18 so the battery does not discharge while having them connected.
Also on battery mode it woud be great to have a way the limit power usage of CPU and GPU, so that the battery last as long as possible (of course I am using adavanced opitmus, power-saving mode). Still there could be more done to reduce the power usage.
Would it make sense to deactivate some of the efficiency cores to extend battery life?
Of course all this with regular office use not for gaming. For gaming the power supply is really needed.

but what is the USB-C charging option then for?
If I talk about gaming or other high performance task, I of course need the 330 W adapter.
But it should be possilbe to work with a USB-C docking station with low performancetasks like Word or Outlook, without having to beafraid, that the battery is discharging. Especially in Optimus and power saving mode, as the Microsoft Office for sure, does not need the RTX 4090.

I even have the same issue when I use a 230W Razer charger.
I would expect that the power limits would be reduced as low, that the battery is not draining, if a 100 W or 230 W adapter is connected.
Or maybe the user could then decide to:
- Maintain charging level
- Have maximum performance
Dear Razer team, it would be really great if you could provide a solution for this topic.
Also, I am using my Razer also for office work with a Dell monitors (65W & 90W charging).

So you are saying even the 230 w charger lets the battery drain ???
I don`t think it will drain if I only work with Office. I have not tested that, yet (only with the 100W).
It most definitely drains if I am gaming.
This is why I proposed to be able to set the Power Limits lower for a low power charger.
For me it would be OK to have lower frame rates, if I have a low power adapter attached.

What actually happens if I am gaming with the 230 W adapter on the Blade 18 (4090). For quite some time I can play with high frame rates. Then when the battery is down to about 20-30 the game starts to lag.

The Razer Blade 18 is fantastic. From what I saw in the test the Razer Blade 16 is also fantastic.
My previous Laptop was an Alienware X15 R2 3080Ti. There the Razer is soooo much faster and quieter!
So you can really look forwart to your new Razer Blade 16 :-)
I am always using Sonys NC headset (wh-1000xm4). So even the notebook (it doesn´t matter which one) would blow all the time, I wouldn´t hear that ;-)) This headset is one of my best buys ever…. ;-)

The same thing happens to me. Regardless of what I’m doing, idle or full on, battery saving mode or performance mode (windows power settings), turbo boost on or off, undervolting or stock, screen brightness up or down, or any combinations thereof, the PC will consistently go down in battery level on USB-C charger. I have a razer gan charger on a blade 18 (4090). Disabling 4090 also does nothing. The only time I can get by without too much drain is when the battery is close to full. Then, with turbo boost disabled, I can maintain close to 100% battery while working on office/browsing/teams etc. If it goes below 80 or more, it's doomed. Eventually I'll need to connect the big brick (330W) adapter before I can start charging the battery again. I have a feeling it’s got to do with temperatures of the battery maybe, as the warmer it is, the harder it is to charge it (thermal throttling on charge rate for batteries is normal). Support hasn’t provided any solution apart from deleting battery device from device manager and restarting PC (during which I also lose another 5-10% charge depending on how much the remaining capacity is). HWinfo states 5 watts for CPU, 0 for GPU, and whatever else is required for MB, RAM, SSD, Wifi module, and screen, should not be more than 100W!!! HWinfo also states a maximum “charge rate” of 70watts for me and quickly reverts back to 40ish for longer periods. Even then it's still draining unless I connect the main power brick.
From my experience, it's not possible to consistently use this PC with a 100W charger even when not doing any power demanding tasks. Just thought to write it here so other people with the same problem don't start going crazy testing different options.
first thing I wanna mention is capping your fps to 60fps in nvidia control panel. Some other tips are
- use 1920x1200 60hz (synapse) along with matching it in nvidia control panel
- use silent mode (synapse)
- don't touch optimus settings lol
- in windows 11 go to Settings>System>Power> then set power mode to best power efficiency
- download throttlestop and either disable turbo groups or reduce all of them down to 25
- make sure to disable undervolt protection in bios and undervolt.
- make sure to update your cpu and integrated graphics card from manufactures website this one is important I havealways noticed less power draw more efficiency and lower temps after with intel cpus.
- If you plan on using it unplugged make sure absolutely nothing open’s on startup
- turn off keyboard led and rear logo led if you need every last drop of efficiency
- this last tip sucks but can seriously be worth it if you still have issues. Perform a clean windows installation. Mine from out the box went from225 processes idling to like 130. before you do this make sure you write down your windows key and save a copy of your calibrated colorprofile. I lost mine when idid this howeverI haven't really noticed any issues and Idownloaded somebody else’s and still don't really notice a difference but be safe.

Are you saying you can consistently charge (% goes up) your razer blade via usb-c? I have everything turned down, 60hz, battery mode, not even doing anything on it, etc (read my post before for details), and it still drains. If I RESTART it though, even while playing games, it’s happily charging up. There is some issue where the system doesn’t allow more power to be withdrawn if you switch from brick to USB-C it seems. Starting windows with the USB-C cable connected, it works. This is an issue independent of the “100 watts isn’t enough to cover the 200+ your laptop sometimes needs”! There is room for more power, and the charger can deliver it, but the system (software probably) doesn’t request it.
Came back to report a workaround I found: If Blade is off, connect USBC for power, then start it. If it's already on, connect USBC, after a few seconds, put it to hibernate, then wake up. In both cases it will charge via the USBC. If it's already on and USBC is connected, it will keep draining battery regardless of what peformance settings or screen refresh rate you have. Maybe it helps someone one day.
